StartBooks privacy policy StartBooks is run by Scitech Media t/a StartBooks ("we"). This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). 1. What we collect Your name, email address and login details; your business details; and the accounting records you or your accountant capture, such as customers, suppliers, invoices and bank transactions. 2. Why we use it Only to provide the accounting service: to let you sign in, keep your books, prepare reports and returns, and contact you about your account. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising. 3. Who can see it Only you, the people you or your accountant give access to, and us as the operator of the service, for support and bookkeeping you have asked us to do. Each business's books are kept separately. 4. Where it is kept and how it is protected On our hosting server, with encrypted connections (https), hashed passwords and regular backups. Access is limited to authorised users. 5. How long we keep it For as long as you use the service and afterwards for as long as tax and company law require (generally five years), after which it is deleted. 6. Your rights You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or object to how it is used, by contacting us. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). 7. Changes We will update this page if this policy changes.
